The Heart Throb Walk

START POINT:  REI, 1405 NW Johnson St., Portland

START TIME:    9:00 AM  to 12:00 PM       Finish by 3:00 PM

TRAIL DESCRIPTION:

Rated 3+ 10 K.  5 K option rated 1+.  The route will be a little different than before. The walk takes you up a lot of hidden stairways (more stairs than last year) into some elegant old neighborhoods in the West Hills.  The route takes in a small portion of Forest Park and the zoo then through the PSU campus.  There will be water and restrooms at the start finish and along the route.  Park restrooms are not always open. Please carry water.

Please note:  The route has not been finalized at writing. This description may not be totally accurate at the time of the walk.

WOC:  Park Trails, Colleges, Forest, or Winter

Dogs are welcome if they are well mannered and kept on a leash.  Dogs are not allowed in the building or start area.   The walk is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers.

FEES:

Anyone is welcome to walk for free but donations are encouraged.  AVA/IVV Credit is $3.00 and there are no refunds given.  Everyone must register, carry a start card and sign the waiver.

Directions:  I-5 Northbound   Take the I-405 exit 299B, on the left towards CITY CENTER/US-26 W/BEAVERTON. Merge onto I-405 N. Take the exit 2B towards EVERETT ST. Continue on Everett St. to NW 14TH AVE to Johnson.  REI is on the corner.

I-5 Southbound.  Take the I-405 exit 302B towards BEAVERTON/US-30 W/ST. HELENS. Merge onto I-405 S. Take the exit 2B towards EVERETT ST.  Stay straight to go onto NW 16TH AVE. Turn LEFT onto NW EVERETT ST. Turn LEFT onto NW 14TH AVE. REI is on the corner.

You may park in the REI parking structure’s 2nd or 3rd level. Enter the parking garage from Johnson St.
